Big Bows and Matching Clothes

Happy Flashback Friday!  It’s a good day, isn’t it?  Not only because the work week is winding down and you hopefully have some fun weekend plans, but also because I’m about to bless you with some old pictures of me and Katy.  There’s no point to this post, so just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, I was recently at my parents’ house rummaging through old photo albums and came across a few pics that I had to share.

This is Katy and I, tucked away for the night with our dog, Nicky.  Well, we aren’t exactly tucked away.  Looks to me like we’re striking a pose.  The way our arms are positioned makes me think of the dancers on Annie when they go to the movies.  Maybe we had just watched the old classic?  It’s still one of my faves.

Here we are outside the theatre at Hardin Simmons University where our sister, Emily, attended school and was in a play.

Check out Katy’s scarf bow!  More like barf bow (sorry- bad joke).  My matchy-matchy outfit was from 5-7-9 where I loved to shop.  It was the first store that I could buy Junior sizes in, so it was a big deal.

And speaking of matchy-matchy:

This time, I’m the bow-head.  No wonder I’m so crazy about my daughter having a bow in her hair, it’s just in my blood.  Aren’t we cute with our matching leggings?  Wait, leggings cover your leg…what are these things?  Shorts + leggings = sheggings?  I bet Katy wishes her t-shirt covered her rear end.  You know how she is about modesty.

Okay…I wrote the above paragraph a few days ago in preparation for today’s post and then went to the mall.  You will not believe what I saw at Forever 21, I about died!

Please tell me you won’t wear these!  Pinky swear?

And finally, here we are singing with our dad.

In our house, you never knew when my dad might bust out the guitar and start playing our favorite songs for us to sing along with.  Even with guests in the house, we would all gather around and sing our parts.  Are you picturing the Von Trapps in Sound of Music?  Another one of my faves.  And the party never stopped after the guitar was put up and we went to bed.  Katy and I would lay in bed singing for hours, usually the songs from Sister Act II.  “If you wanna be somebody…”  Oh, the memories!

  1. I literally laughed out loud when you said “I bet Katy wishes her shirt covered her rear end.” I had just thought, “geez, why’s my shirt so short?” hahah oh gosh. My fav is us sleeping with Nicky dog!
