Not to worry! I’m not talking about the kind of french braid that pulls your eyes back to your ears. Thankfully, loose and casual braids are what its all about.
Just like this:
When my August issue of InStyle came in the mail and had an entire spread on braids, I was pumped. Braids are a great way to be able to pull your hair back without having to default to your trusty ponytail. They make me feel a little bit like a mermaid (Arial of course), and nothing is better in the middle of a Texas summer than feeling like a half girl, half fish that lives under the sea.
Anywho, if my mermaid theory has not won you over to the “yeah for french braids” team, check out this amazing pic of Mika Kelley:
Right? Now who doesn’t want to braid their hair everyday?
I have fine hair and wore a braid the other day so my advise for you is to do it the day after washing your hair so you get an effortless look without it continually falling out. (mine still fell out a few times during the day so hopefully your hair is more cooperative)
Here is another great example of today’s braid:
And although my examples are glamorous and famous women, you do not have to be glamorous or famous to rock a french braid. But please, oh please, never do this.
Not even Rebecca Romijn could make this look good.
Well, I hope our lovey braid models (minus the floor length mini braid) have inspired you to give french braids a new chance at life. I think you will be pleased. Happy braiding!
